Course sheet

ARC Training – airworthiness review course sheet

An aircraft certificate of airworthiness is only valid together with a valid airworthiness review certificate (ARC). Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014 sets out how the review is performed: Part-M (Annex I) and Part-ML (Annex Vb).

The course follows the review step by step: who may perform it, how to carry out the documented review and the physical survey, how to handle findings, write the report and issue or extend the ARC. A reusable checklist comes with the course.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Place the ARC within Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014 and tell the Part-M and Part-ML requirements apart.
  • Identify who may perform an airworthiness review and which qualifications the staff need.
  • Carry out the documented review: hours and cycles, airworthiness directives, maintenance programme, modifications and repairs, life-limited parts, mass and balance.
  • Conduct the physical survey of the aircraft and match it against the records.
  • Handle findings, write the report, issue or extend the ARC.
  • Avoid common errors through case studies.

Why a course on the ARC?

An ARC issued in error, or a poorly documented review, puts the organisation’s responsibility at stake and can ground the aircraft. A clear method and a checklist help you carry out each review completely and traceably.

This course complements the EASA Part-CAMO training: it focuses on the airworthiness review itself, under Part-M and Part-ML.

  • Independent certifying staff (Part-ML).
  • Accountable managers, technical managers and compliance managers of continuing airworthiness organisations.

FAQ – ARC Training

What is the airworthiness review certificate (ARC)?

The ARC confirms that an airworthiness review has been carried out and that the aircraft is considered airworthy. An aircraft certificate of airworthiness is only valid together with a valid ARC.

What is the course based on?

Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014: Annex I (Part-M), in particular M.A.901 and M.A.710, and Annex Vb (Part-ML), in particular ML.A.901 and ML.A.903, with their AMC and GM.

How long does the course take?

About 1.5 hours in e-learning, at your own pace: 6 video modules with summary sheets and quizzes, a checklist, then the final assessment.

How is the certificate issued?

Once you pass the final assessment (20 questions, 80% correct answers), the certificate of training is issued. A second attempt is available if you fail.

Does this course authorise me to issue ARCs?

No. Authorisation to perform airworthiness reviews depends on the qualification and experience requirements of the regulation and on your organisation’s procedures. The course gives you the regulatory knowledge expected in this role.

Is the course available in French?

Yes, the French version “Formation ARC – Certificat d’examen de navigabilité” is available in e-learning at the same price.
